If you don't take action to help yourself no one is to blame for you not receiving help. Opportunities don't last forever and sometimes come with a deadline so timely action is best. This list was sent to me and was labeled as scholarships for African Americans & Minorities. I have looked into some of the links and found that they are not just for African Americans and Minorities so please do your homework and don't just write them all off. I must also tell you that these are not just for scholarships but some are for grant money as well.
Higher Education can help stamp out poverty and crime. It can also help build self-esteem, self-confidence and bridge the gap between the Haves and the Have Nots. Many people are devout Christians and are constantly studying the scriptures but they often neglect or see no need for secular education. The scriptures doesn't specify what type of knowledge(religious/secular), but the Bible does say Christians have two sets of rules to follow. Since you need a secular education(which is required by law in this country), you should get the highest level possible. If someone is willing to help you get that education then then by all means take them up on their offer.
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee..."(Hosea 4:6)
Even if you do not have a college-aged child at home, please share this with someone who does, pass this scholarship information on to anyone and everyone that comes to mind. Though there are a number of companies and organizations that have donated moneys for scholarship use to African Americans, a great deal of the money is being returned because of a lack of interest.
No one is going to knock on your door and ask if you can use a scholarship. Take the initiative to get your children involved. There is no need for money to be returned to donating companies because we fail to apply for it.
Please pass this information on to family members, nieces, nephews, friends with children etc. We must get the word out that money is available. If you are a college student or getting ready to become one, you probably already know how useful additional money can be. Our youth really could use these scholarships. Thanks!!
